This morning, I was awoken by the sensation of my bed moving back and forth, away from the wall. It was a little bit after 4:30 a.m., so I thought that I was either hallucinating or dreaming, or both. A bit shaken up, I decided to go to the bathroom. Luckily, by the time I came out, all my roommates had gotten up as well, so they could confirm that I was not crazy.
Anyhow, I think that Madre Earth is very angry at us. Apparently, the last more than 5. Richter register was in the late 1800s. Scary indeed that the quake was in Salem, Ill. but felt as far as Georgia and Kansas! I know what we felt was nowhere like it was in Salem or parts of Indiana, I went on the USGS Web site, and apparently the severity for the location I was in was Level 3, which means weak. If a weak shake moves my bed like that, I hope that I never have to experience anything worse.
One aftershock came at about 10:15, just as I was getting up. Only one other roommate confirmed this one, but the dear old World Wide Web provided me with backup. Such a strange way to start the day, no? Especially a nice and sunny morning.
